MOVEMENT PHASE

The Movement Phase is about progressing from structured practice to proactive personal advancement. It’s where the veteran begins actively pursuing sustainable outcomes: mental health, housing, employment, and financial stability.

Objective: Empower the veteran to take meaningful, individualized steps toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency. This phase marks a shift from internal preparation to external application of skills and services.

Core Activities:

  1. Advanced Mental Health Engagement

    1. Deeper self-awareness and application of coping strategies

    2. Support for substance use recovery or co-occurring disorders

    3. Development of long-term care plans or medication regimens

  2. Employment & Skill Development

    1. Job searching and job fairs

    2. Skill bridge and apprenticeship opportunities

  3. Job Preparation

    1. Resume building, mock interviews, and job readiness workshops

    2. Vocational training or skill certification programs

    3. Job search assistance and introductions to potential employers

  4. Financial Planning & Stability

    1. Budgeting workshops and financial literacy classes

    2. Creation of a personal savings plan

    3. Access to resources for credit repair, debt management, or benefits counseling

  5. Housing Preparation

    1. Assistance with finding permanent housing

    2. Completion of applications and securing deposits/rent support

    3. Planning for transition out of the facility with support systems in place

  6. Community Reintegration

    1. Encouraged participation in local community groups or support networks

    2. Rebuilding family connections, if appropriate

    3. Volunteerism or civic engagement opportunities


Summary Statement:

In the Movement Phase, veterans transition from preparation to execution. They begin building a future with tangible outcomes — stable income, secure housing, improved health, and the confidence to live independently.
