“Stand Watch With Us”

Join the Five STAR Patrol — a small group of donors whose monthly support is the reason the Center can keep saying “Yes” to the next veteran who walks in.

Why Monthly Matters

Grants come and go. End-of-year appeals spike and then fade. But every morning, the Center opens its doors — and every morning, someone is waiting. Monthly giving is what lets us say “Yes” regardless of what quarter it is.
If 100 of you pledge $25 a month, that’s $30,000 a year we know is coming — the kind of certainty that turns maybe into “Yes”.

What Your Gift Does

Note: “Unreimbursed” means the part of a veteran’s housing cost that VA per-diem ($60/night) and Passport program fees don’t cover — about $110 of the roughly $170 it costs to house a veteran each night. That gap is what donations fill.

At $25/month:

  • About five weeks of nutritious galley meals for a resident, or

  • A month of weekly peer-support group sessions, or

  • About one one-hour employment counseling session a month, or

  • Roughly three nights of the unreimbursed cost of housing a veteran — the share VA per-diem and program fees don’t cover.

At $100/month:

  • About five months of a resident’s meals, or

  • Roughly eleven nights of the unreimbursed cost of housing a veteran, beyond VA and program-fee support.

What’s in a Quarterly Field Report

This is the piece Patrol members get that the public does not — candid, numbers-forward, and short (one to two pages, sent within three weeks of each quarter’s close). Every field report contains:

  • Mission scoreboard — the current-quarter numbers, plain: veterans housed, average nightly census and occupancy, graduations, and employment-on-exit. The same figures leadership watches.

  • What Patrol dollars funded this quarter — one to three specific things monthly gifts paid for (galley meals, peer-support sessions, employment counseling, or nights of the unreimbursed housing gap), tied to real amounts where possible.

  • One story from the floor — a short, de-identified account of a veteran’s progress (no names or identifying detail unless the veteran gives written permission).

  • The honest part — what didn’t go to plan and what we’re doing about it. Open rooms, a grant that slipped, a cost that rose. This is the candor we don’t put in public materials.

  • Where we stand vs. the year’s goals — Patrol membership and monthly total against the Year-1 target, so members can see the program building.

  • One clear way to help beyond the monthly gift — a referral, an employer match, an in-kind need, or an event invitation.
