Veteran United States Army
I came across Five Star Veterans by pure luck when I was at a low point in my life.
I was trying to make my life and my kids here in Jacksonville, raising my boys and working full time. When funds were low, I would try and focus on making sure I was able to feed my boys.
In the end it had become a challenge, then COVID hit. I lost hours, no transportation and the higher prices for everything made it so difficult. Then I was told about Five Star Veterans Center. It took me a while to get up the courage to reach out for help, mainly because I didn’t have proper transportation, but when I did my life changed.
I called over and this lady answered the phone, her voice, her words reminded me that I was not weak because I was asking for help, I was stronger than I thought. During that time, I didn’t have a car and one of their staff members came to me with a box of food, Blessed!!!
I couldn’t believe it and they have never turned me away since the first time we met.
After I was able to secure a car, it was easier to get to their facility. Anytime I need anything I can call. I am overly grateful for what the staff has done for me and my family.
It is deeply appreciated, and we will be forever Thankful for the staff at Five Star Veterans Program.
